Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing of the body and mind.

Reiki is administered by touch, through the Reiki Healer, and is based on the idea that an unseen 'life force energy' flows through us and causes us to be alive. if one's life force energy is low, we are more likely to get sick or feel stressed, alternatively, if one's life force energy is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Reiki treats the whole person including the body (inflammation, pain, etc.) the emotions and the spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation, and feelings of peace and calm, an overall sense of wellbeing.

Reiki is a simple, safe, natural healing & self-improving treatment that everyone could use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and always creates a beneficial effect. It works well in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. I have been attuned by my Reiki master, Libby Barnett MSW, who also trained the staff at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religious thing. It is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing that you must 'believe in' order to reap the benefits of a Reiki session. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all, and will work weather you believe in it or not, its use is not dependent on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development, and therefore is available to everyone.

It is very important that we all live and act in a way that creates happiness with who we are as individuals, and also act in ways that promotes harmony with others. Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommended that one should practice certain & simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which is universal across all cultures.

"The secret art of inviting happiness

The miraculous medicine of all diseases

Just for today, do not anger

Do not worry and be filled with gratitude

Devote yourself to your work

Be kind to people.

Every morning and every evening, join your hands in prayer, pray these works to your heart

and chant these works with your mouth"

- The founder, Usi Mikao

Reiki involves allowing the universal life energy believed to surround and inhabit the body to help ease anxiety and promote relaxation. During reiki sessions, master practitioners gently place their hands on or above patients’ bodies while patients sit or lie down on a massage table, acting as a conduit for energy to flow through to the patient.

“There is a larger energy outside of us, and that energy is present in the entire universe and available to everyone; the practitioner simply becomes a vessel for that energy to move through,” says Bambi Mathay, LMT, reiki master practitioner, who provides reiki, massage, and reflexology to adult and pediatric patients through the Zakim Center.

“Reiki is a gentle therapy that offers support to increase quality of life, before, during, and after treatment,” adds Theresa Ochenkoski, LMT, reiki master practitioner, and certified foot reflexologist. Small studies, including one by Dana-Farber radiation oncologist Clair Beard, MD, published in the journal Cancer, have shown that reiki can help reduce anxiety. Many report a reduction in pain and nausea as well, although the experience is unique for each person.

Reiki and the Chakras
Introduction
The use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in the United States has increased in importance for practitioners, health care consumers, policymakers, and researchers. CAM would not be possible without the use of the ancient Indian medical system, known as the Ayurveda. Ayurveda is a practice done in India for over five thousand years, it combines a personalized approach with natural therapies to treat diseases (Chauhan).
A basis of the Ayurvedic tradition and practice is the Chakra system.

The term chakra comes from the Sanskrit term meaning "wheel". A chakra is a point of intersection between the body and the mind.  There are seven major chakras that are each associated with a level of consciousness and elements; additionally, they correspond to major central nervous system clusters and glands in the endocrine system.

REIKI SERVICES:

What is Reiki?

Due to the Salon environment, I like to keep Reiki after hours, where we can be in a more calm and quiet environment.

I also like to cleanse the clients Chakras and use stones and energies to do so, creating a more balanced body/mind.
